Feb 21, 2013 05:47PM This didn't work for me so what does that mean? I have a gateway M series laptop. Back to Answers Index When I plug the charger in the power light blinks and also 3 of the little lights on the bottom blink also. When the charger is not plugged in the lights doesn't blink. Also if I push the charger in harder to make it work my laptop shuts off. chevenee, unplug the power cord, remove the battery then hold power button down for 10 seconds. Put battery back in and plug power back in. Also, you do want to measure the Voltage on the barrel connector and see what your voltage is. As for" push the charger in harder to make it work my laptop shuts off." it does sound like a bad DC jack. you may have to disassemble your Acer and see if the board is cracked on the DC jack or if it is the solder that has cracked. Hope this helps, good luck. I just fixed this problem on my 5750, one of the connections to the DC jack had snapped off so was only making intermittent contact.

No new parts required but I did have to strip it down to get at the problem and solder the connection back on. The laptop switching itself off when you apply too much pressure to the dc connection is a separate issue you can deal with at the same time - the DC jack is stuck down with glue, which doesn't do the job so if you angle the power cable wrong it will move up enough to hit the power button from below. Sloppy design from Acer, but you just need to re-secure the jack so it can't move. The battery power LED is generally a lightning bolt icon. New computer in "shipping mode" Figure : "Shipping mode" blinking LED light Today i connected my laptop to its power adapter (which has been down for past few weeks due to hdd failure) to charge it before i could change the drive. When i turn on the AC power, the power light on the front panel goes solid bright for a few seconds then starts blinking. I know my battery was 63% damaged before laptop crashed but it worked fine. I read a hard reset after detaching the battery would solve it but to no avail. What causes this power light to blink? I have HP DV4-2126TX Most likely cause for blinking is that the laptop is turned on and in standby or similar. ... but it is different on every laptop.

Sometimes it means that it's charging the battery. Sometimes blinking lights might even indicate a hardware failure (for instance, a failed battery, or damaged motherboard, or some other issue). You would have to reference your laptop's user manual for more information on how to interpret these lights. There is no standardized method of using indicator lights, especially in laptops. My 2 months old T420s declines to boot since this morning. After pressing the Power-Button it starts to alternatingly flash the Power-Button light and the fingerprint reader LED. Nothing else happens, no fan starting to run or anything else. I haven't changed anything since yesterday when it booted with no problems. Does anyone know what this could be?
