Hang Christmas Lights Indoors Without Damaging Walls

Hang lights with adhesives instead of nails. To drape your Christmas lights around the room the way you want them, you need to attach them to the walls in many places along the strands of wire. This can leave you with a series of small holes you need to patch at the end of the season -- and taking down the holiday decorations is sad enough without adding hours of extra work to the job. If your lights are small, the strands should be lightweight, which gives you several options for how to hang them without damaging the walls. Stick a small adhesive decorating clip to the walls in each place you want to attach a strand of lights. To secure a vertical stretch of lights going straight up or down the wall, face the clips in alternating directions to make the arrangement more secure. In other words, attach the bottom clip facing left, the clip above it facing right, the third clip facing left and so on. Slide the strands of lights into the arrangement of clips to fasten them to the wall. This system works best on white plaster walls because adhesive decorating clips are most readily available in white.

Tape the strands to the walls with a wall-safe transparent tape if the walls aren't white. You might only need a piece of tape every five or six lights, or you might need pieces between each light or every two lights, depending on how heavy the strands are and how complex your hanging design is. The more twists and patterns you have in your design, the more pieces of tape you probably need. Fasten the lights to exposed brick walls using brick clips. These grip onto the narrow horizontal surface at the top front of a brick, between the surface of the wall and the grout line. Brick clips are more visible than the other alternatives, but they are stronger, so you shouldn't need as many of them. Attach the brick clips to the bricks every few feet along the wall, then slide the strands of lights into the protruding hooks on the vertical surfaces of the clips. They were just what I wanted. instructions ask to press each one for a minute. That is really too much ! A couple of seconds suffice ! I really wanted to give these 5 stars after I initially used them to hold the cable for a dash-cam to the outer edge of my windscreen - they stuck well and held the cable exactly... Used these to hang a felt craft garland on my daughters door, perfect for lightweight decor and barely visible due to being clear plastic, perfect These snap really easily. I was blaming my husbands big man hands but when I tried to change the lights over, the hook part just snapper off. These work so well. Wish they were cheaper, but worth the extra money over competitor brands.
