Last Sunday evening, Car Seat Headrest played one of those “you shouldn’t have missed it” kind of shows at Underground Arts. During the set, they introduced a couple of cover songs into their tunes. During “Vincent” from their excellent new album, Teens of Denial, they slipped Radiohead’s “Paranoid Android,” into the end of the song, and a snippet of Sufjan Stevens’ “Impossible Soul” at the end of “The Ballad of Costa Concordia.” Watch the performances below, and check out our review and photo recap here. Just a couple of weeks old, Frank Ocean’s ‘Blonde’ album is already the recipient of a big-name cover. During a show at St. Louis’ Ready Room, Will Toledo aka Car Seat Headrest gave a raggedy, emotionally-unhinged rendition of ‘Ivy’, one of ‘Blonde’’s most immediate tracks. Fan-shot footage of the performance is streaming below, and it follows the release of Car Seat Headrest’s latest album ‘Teens of Denial’.

Car Seat Headrest are prepping their album, Teens of Denial (a follow-up to last year’s Teens of Style), but frontman Will Toledo recently took a break from promoting his new material and shared his rendition of Radiohead’s “Pyramid Song.” Toledo gives the Amnesiac track an acoustic, stripped-down makeover but still nails Thom Yorke‘s forlorn wail. On his Tumblr, the singer-songwriter described his version as “sloppy flamenco with missing string and AIM accompaniment.” Take a listen below and compare it to the original at the bottom of the page. Teens of Denial is slated for a May 20 release via Matador. You can pre-order it on CD or vinyl at this location. So far, Toledo has already shared album singles “Vincent,” “Drunk Drivers/Killer Whales” and “Fill in the Blank.”

Radiohead, meanwhile, are working on their ninth full-length. Confirmed details regarding the album remain scarce, but Yorke and company are set to tour this summer. Hitting Ocean’s notes is no easy feat, but head Headrest Will Toledo isn’t one to shy away from covering big names: He’s recently tried his hand at Radiohead’s “Paranoid Android” and David Bowie’s “Blackstar,” too.
