One of my favorite tricks is the Ikea Aina in linen for $49.99 available in white, natural, gray, and pink. A surprising array of colors can be used in curtains to pair with a burgundy sofa and recliner. Whether you choose fresh cream, romantic rose or a complementary green or blue shade, the curtain and furniture colors will form a strong color dynamic. Along with wall color, add trim and accessories to round out the room's color scheme. For best results, collect swatches and samples to compare in the room's setting before you make final color choices. Cream and Neutrals Think berries and cream for a fresh color scheme that suits almost any decor style. Cream or off-white curtains and walls provide an airy backdrop for your burgundy furniture, but if this seems too stark for you, deepen the curtain colors to shades of beige, tan or taupe. Accent colors that would enhance this scheme include rose, olive green, sea foam, or colonial blue.
Trim colors in dark neutrals such as walnut brown, ebony or charcoal grey will help balance the overall look of the room. Romantic Rose Set off your burgundy furniture with curtains in a medium rose tone, walls in a lighter pink and a carpet or rug slightly deeper than the curtain color. Paint the trim in a very deep burgundy or charcoal gray to ground the setting. To enliven this monochromatic color scheme, choose a mix of interesting textures, such as linen-weave curtains, textured plaster walls and a sculptured pile carpet. Accessories in off-white add a bright counterpoint. For a sophisticated edgy look, mix in metallic accents in pewter, hammered silver or stainless steel. Complementary Green Muted greens such as sage, olive and moss green complement the red tones in burgundy furniture. For a restful, nature-inspired theme, choose curtains in a medium shade of green with off-white or beige walls, natural or dark wood furnishings and fabric accessories that tie the burgundy, green and tan colors together.
Then light up the color scheme with copper or warm gold accents. Colonial Blue Colonial blue curtains with burgundy furniture, off-white walls with deep burgundy and navy blue accents and dark wood trim suggest an Americana decor theme. Tie it together with pillow covers, throw blankets and table runners in burgundy, blue and off-white stripes, stars or plaids. Finish with themed accessories, including weathered woods or metals. The same color scheme can also suggest French country decor by shifting to toile or floral print fabrics, along with appropriate accessories. We are also re-carpeting and painting the master bedroom.  We have had light tan walls and carpet and I don't think that I want to go with grey carpet--I think that I would be limited by it in the future.  We have two dogs, so I also don't want anything too light for the carpet.  Do you have any suggestions for colors on the wall and floors that would not clash with the marble/grey in the bathroom, but would remain neutral enough for us to us any bedspread that we might choose in the future? Categories: Bedrooms, Color, Painting Tips Shades of Grey for a Soothing Slumber I would like to paint my bedroom three shades of grey.  One color for one wall and the ceiling as well as one color for the other three walls and another for the trim and doors. I would like the trim and doors to be the darkest color in the room. I do not want tones of pink, green, or blue in the grey and I would generally prefer warmer tones.  Only the trim and doors should be the darker shade. Additionally, the carpet is very light and there are two window frames, baseboards and louvered closet doors.  Saying Goodbye to the '90s My house has blue carpet throughout and all of the walls are white, think 1990's style.  I'm not sure how to add color to the walls without it being too much color.   Categories: Bedrooms, Dining Rooms, Color, Dens, Kitchens, Living & Family Rooms Wall Color for a Nautical Bedroom My bedroom walls are taupe and I have navy and white bedding with white, navy and red nautical pillows.
