It’s August and it’s sultry, which means that in the luxury linen business we’re keeping cool inside and showing off some of our finest wares, on sale! We’ve taken a slightly different approach this year for Sultry Sale, and we’re excited, as are the handful of customers that have had a sneak peek. As usual, we travel to Italy every spring, review and select new styles of bedding, and buy it in bulk. This gives our workrooms plenty of time to sew and we get “bulk prices” which we pass along to you. We choose the patterns, the designs, and the colors… it’s all custom for us, every year. As the world feels a bit chaotic these days, we chose a very neutral color palatte focusing on whites, grays and sand, As we attract new customers in our store, we find that many of them (and many of our existing customers) are looking for cleaner, crisper lines.

This year for Sultry Sale we’ve done away with most of the flanges, and all cases and shams feature “French enclosures” providing a custom fit on pillows, doing away with traditional loose cases and flopping flanges. We’ve also added some flashy fashion to our Sultry Sale collection rather than just focusing on everyday basics. The response to Babylon (pictured above) has already been overwhelming at French Quarter (several sets have been set aside for pre-sale) and we will definitely need to be taking special orders on this (at the sale price, of course!) Lastly, we’re introducing a remarkably soft towel at a 50% savings. Made in Portugal by Peacock Alley, it is made from a high-touch and absorbent blend of cotton and bamboo. Three neutral colors are in the offering and we have hundred and hundreds of units, allowing our customers to stock up. Sultry Sale is one of our two big events every year (The other is Dreaming of Italy, in January) and a lot of work goes into getting ready.
