Soccer for Success® is the U.S. Soccer Foundation’s free afterschool program that uses soccer as a tool to address children's health issues and juvenile delinquency, while promoting healthy lifestyles in urban underserved communities. The Foundation partners with community-based organizations across the country to operate Soccer for Success sites – providing thousands of children with free programming three times per week for 24 weeks.  See more at: Soccer for Success. Q. When does everything get started? A. Programs occur throughout the year and are available to players with a variety of skills levels and ages. The Soccer for Success program occurs at schools, community centers, Boys and Girls Clubs, and parks in the Buffalo area. Start times varies per location, contact Anna-Lesa Calvert for more information about a site near you. Q. What equipment will my child need to play with BSC? A. US Soccer Foundation, through the grant, provides the following equipment: jersey, soccer socks, shin guards and a ball, that participants may keep if they complete the 24 week program.  Athletic shoes, such as sneakers, are required for all of our sites. For outdoor site, soccer cleats are optional for all ages. Q. Where can I buy equipment? A. Sneakers can be purchased at a variety of locations including local shoe stores.  Cleats can be purchased at Walmart and DICK's Sporting Goods. Q. Will my child have games against other players?

A. With our outdoor sites, Soccer for Success participants will have opportunities to play in scheduled games against other Soccer for Success - Buffalo area sites participating at the same time. Q. Does SFS provide transportation? A. We do not currently provide transporation for any of our programs. Q. Do parents need to stay at the practices/games? A. It is suggested that parents stay to observe sessions at our park sites, so they are able to learn about the game of soccer, volunteer, and participate in their child's soccer development. We do know that occasionally things will come up, but parental involvement can make a great impact on a young soccer player. Q. How will parents and players be notified if soccer is cancelled due to poor weather conditions? A. Soccer for Success follows the sites inclement weather policy.  For those programs that do not have an inclement weather policy, a phone call will be made to the phone number provided at registration to notify players and parents that soccer has been cancelled.
