I love how this wedding has an elegant feel but also keeps it country roots. If you have ever thought about using re-purposed items at your wedding then play close attention to the great details this couple showcases. From the photographer  Katelin and Warren got married on the same property over looking the puget sound as Katelin’s parents did over 25 years ago. They had wonderful touches of furniture throughout the large lawn where their tent was. I especially loved the love seat that sat overlooking the view. Near the end of the evening, they had a falafel truck arrive to serve shwarma and falafel. It was a really beautiful day from start to finish!

My fiancee and I love the Northwest - the woods, the mountains, the ocean, the food and the people. We have visited Seattle many times and always stayed around Pike Place. We haven't explored parks or forests there. We are from Texas and and we are trying to find a beautiful place in Washington State to get married. This is a super intimate wedding- 10 guests attending. Cost is not an issue. We are hoping to find a place a beautiful landscape (in a forest, by water, mountains, etc) followed by drinks/food there.
We are both foodies and really want local and yummy food for our reception and stay. I am an amatuer yogi so would love to stay at a place that has yoga. Are there places that come to mind? We are happy to mix and match- where we can get married in a forest with our own catering but want to stay at a great place where we have fun and good food is available at either the hotel or around. Thank you so much in advance!!! Doe Bay, Orcas Island fits most of the bill. Port Townsend of course. Willows Inn on Lummi island, if they'll do it. They have a world renowned restaurant these days, so I'm not sure if they do weddings. I agree Orcas or any of the San Juans really would also be fantastic, though Doe Bay's still a bit hippie-ish so you have to like that vibe. Maybe Inn at Ship Bay, though it's been a while since I've eaten there. I think combining a spot of natural beauty but having a real foodie experience is going to be the trick--a lot of our more natural areas aren't really known for their food, the way the Seattle area is.
Like, the National Park lodges would be an amazing setting, but the food? Edited: 5:35 pm, May 20, 2014 Best wishes to you both!!! Destination weddings involve logistics for all in the party, both in planning and results So, consider San Juan Island, though Orcas is quite nice. Plus, more to see there. An alternative, see comments about Whidbey Island, below.July and August are your best bets for weather. Know that the title "resort" in the PNW is not usually the same caliber as you'll find elsewhere. Lakedale Resort on SJI does wedding parties. For you and your guests: San Juan Islands This article provides specific information re: what to see and to do on the major islands, with key websites. The islands are best seen by basing on one and visiting the others as day trips. Recommend at least two nights. Whidbey Island is a more accessible location. One of my sons got married at the Inn @ Langley, Langley, WA. Excellent lodging and food; they had their wedding outside overlooking the water.
Whidbey Island is a great day or more getaway with many features of the Pacific NW; this article includes key websites, tours, maps. Actually the food at Lake Quinault Lodge is good. Catering yourself would be a different matter. They have a private room in the historic Lodge for weddings and a gazebo on the lawn out front on the edge of the Lake. If you have never been there the Quinault Valley is one of the most beautiful forests anywhere. I know a couple of rentals that may be available if you are talking this Summer. This is on the edge of Olympic National Park and wilderness, so it may not be what you are looking for. Edited: 9:26 pm, May 20, 2014 I too would suggest Whidbey Island, specifically Langley. The Inn at Langley is top drawer, both in terms of lodging and food. The Saratoga Inn is very nice as well Prima Bistro offers excellent food too!!. Thank you so much for great comments guys! I am planning the wedding for NEXT YEAR in the Summer. I am getting advice now so I can visit the place(s) this summer and book them.
Since most of the suggestions are islands, do you think it is harder to get to them if we fly into Seattle. None of my guests are from the Northwest region. We will all be flying from Texas, Colorado or the north east. / - is 40 minutes from Seattle, set next to/above Snoqualmie Falls, has a very good restaurant, full spa menu, a yoga studio and sessions. If your wedding is in the earlier part of the summer (say before August 1) there will be quite a lot of water coming over the falls, very spectacular. I just checked out the choices offered for Whidbey Island and they all are stunning especially Inn at langley. I am still trying to figure out if guests will want to travel another 2 hours after flying. I have also seen great views of the Rattle Snake Ridge where we could have a great ceremony and then reserve a yummy restaurant for eating later. Lots of great options! Rattlesnake Ridge is an absolutely mobbed spot at the end of a steep hiking trail. Part of the trail gains 1000' in 1.5 miles--very steep.
There are loads of people, kids and dogs because it's so close to the city. The view includes I-90 and a stumpy reservoir. Unless you're wedding party is very fit, wants to get dirty on the way up, and you have a low bar for scenery, I wouldn't consider this. I just googled to see who in the world got married up there and I see lots of engagement photos or photos where the couple is dressed for the wedding, but I don't actually see guests or anything indicating an actual wedding. Most of the photos are taken in such a way you only see the nice part of the view. Or they make the stumpy reservoir look art-y. Anyway, if you want a wedding in nature, there are way prettier spots that won't require your guests to break a sweat and wear hiking boots. have you considered leavenworth? Lots of mountain views and nice sleepinglady resort grows their own foods and would be a nice place.
