But that's exactly what will happen for Asha Joyce, the fiancée of Houston Texas defensive tackle Devon Still. The couple put their wedding on hold for two years while Still's daughter, Leah, now 5, fought stage 4 neuroblastoma, a rare and deadly cancer. In March 2015, doctors declared Leah cancer free and in July, while accepting the Espys' award for perseverance on behalf of he and Leah (who could not attend), Devon promised his fiancée the wedding of her dreams for standing by them during such a dark time. Representatives from The Knot heard his speech and made them the recipients of this year's Dream Wedding. Instead of a gift registry, the couple has created a registry to raise money for a cause near and dear to their hearts: pediatric cancer. "Since we're big on raising awareness of cancer we felt as though the perfect thing to do would be to create a charity registry," says Devon, 26, "so we could still continue to help out those that are in need since The Knot decided to help us out."

Joseph Lin Photography / The Knot America has been voting on each detail of the day since March 16 and will continue to do so through May 4. The wedding is May 13. So far the invitations, the flowers and the cake have been chosen. Now it's time for the dress. Voting begins April 6. "I'm excited," Joyce, 26, tells PEOPLE. "People think you should be nervous. We get to pick four different aspects of each element so we have some of our ideas in there so I trust America to pick a good choice." She'd be happy with any of the four dresses, she says. Devon admits he was a little anxious at first. "For a wedding you want everything to be perfect and with everybody having to vote on it it was kind of nervewracking," he says. "But I feel as though we developed a good relationship with America. They kind of have an understanding of us now, of our relationship and our style so I think now we're closer to it I'm more trustworthy of what America is going to choose." He says he's thrilled that Asha is getting the wedding she deserves.

"Any woman that is able to deal with what she had to deal with – with a child that's not even hers – deserves something like the dream wedding The Knot is giving us," he says. And he has some surprises in store for her as well, including the tux he is designing himself. Joseph Lin Photography / The Knot Leah, who is designing her own flower girl dress for the wedding, is excited as well. "I kinda never went to a wedding before," she tells PEOPLE. "And I'm really happy I'm going to have a stepmother." Asha feels the same way. " I feel like we have a lot to celebrate after the last two years," she says. "There will be a lot of emotions in the room. I can't wait to see Devon in a tux, Leah in her dress and all our family there."
