For people remodeling or demolishing a home, deconstruction is an environmentally responsible alternative to demolition and reduces the amount of materials disposed into landfills. All salvageable items removed by our deconstruction team are then sold to the public at the Lexington Habitat ReStore.
Our most common deconstruction project is the salvage of kitchen cabinet sets, however, we are open to other types of projects such as bathroom vanities, flooring, etc. to set up an initial meeting. Step 2: We will schedule a walk-through of your site to determine if your project is acceptable for our program. Together we will coordinate a timeline for the project. Step 3: A crew comes to your site and removes salvageable materials to sell at the Lexington Habitat ReStore. All proceeds from the sale of these materials benefits Lexington Habitat for Humanity. (If you are looking for ways to volunteer on a Habitat build site, please click here for more information.) Volunteering at the ReStore is a fun way to make a difference in your community without swinging a hammer or getting your boots muddy. Not only do ReStore volunteers help Habitat for Humanity build affordable homes in Lexington, but they also keep our community clean and green by diverting more than 6,000 pounds of reusable material out of the waste stream every day!
