Toilet 19 Bowl Height

(Image credit: Jason Loper) Bring on the small, yet powerful, toilets that allow you to save space and still sit down in style. Oh, and yes, you will also save lots of water as well! When I started doing this list nearly ten years ago, this was a novel category. It is no longer. Our reader favorites continue to be these brands: Toto, Duravit and Kohler, and while there's still debate about the higher prices for these toilets and problems with "streaking" they seem to be generally winning people over. I'm curious to see what you all will say today, fully two years later??? Check out the full list after the jump... Toto Aquia - From $330 This is the contentious leader of the pack. Reader rave about it and they also complain a bit about "streaking" and installation. It comes three ways: one piece, two-piece and wall hung. For those of you who have space problems from the tip of the toilet to something else, keep in mind that this one has an elongated bowl which is comfortable, but will run you 27.5 inches from the wall on the one and two piece models.

(Image credit: Terry Love) Toto Entrada - From $175 At the more affordable end of the Toto spectrum I found the Entrada, which has a round bowl and not an elongated one, coming in at just over 26 inches from the wall. It has a super cute little tank and is 100% Toto. Kohler Rialto - From $542 This is a very classy and popular low slung tank and one-piece design.
Corner Mounted Bird BathReminds me of American Hustle.
Running Shoes Low ArchThe Rialto is never cheap!
Cost Of Dishwasher Singapore Kohler Santa Rosa - From $456 A little more affordable, but also super compact, the Santa Rosa comes in one or two-piece and is the most attractive - IMHO - of their offerings on that end of the price spectrum. Duravit Starck 1 - From $1,000

The very first Starck design for Duravit that made toilets modern and changed what people would pay forever, this original #1 design is classic. Duravit Starck 3 - From $250 The latest Starck design, but with a much more accessible price tag, the Starck 3 comes in many variation and will only set you back 25 inches from the wall. (Image credit: American Standard) DXV Lyndon - From $650 With Porcher no longer being offered in this country, American Standard has replaced importing that brand with their own European inspired bathroom line, including the svelte Lyndon. Definitely a luxury model, it comes with dual flush, EverClean surface cleaning (no streaking and easy cleaning) and a slow close seat. Caroma Sydney - From $200 From Australia, where they know about water conservation, comes their popular Sydney toilet. It comes in many styles, all of them dual flush (this is their speciality) and with compact designs. Excellent comment below with only one reservation.

(Image credit: Sam's Club) Alexis High Efficiency Dual Flush - $99 I put this forward because I love the comment and others have discovered this as well. The Alexis only seems to be available at Sam's Club. You are here: Home How To's Bath How To Choose a Modern Toilet The toilet is a household necessity, and one of the most appreciated fixtures in the modern bathroom. Deciding on which modern toilet is the right fit your home, consider these factors when choosing: Dual Flushers are great modern toilet options if you’re looking to save water. With two different flush types, from low-flow for fluid waste and high-flow for solid waste, you’re loking at a toilet that can save up to 67% of water comsumption annually. These toielts generally use less water than your average modern toilet. You’re looking at about a 1.28-.8 gallons per flush. An inexpensive modern toielt option, gravity flush toilets use the weight of the water and gravity to do all the flushing.

These toilets are more for comercial use than domestic. They’re less prone to clogging than the average toilet so they’re great for high traffic public restroooms and typically have an integrated cleanig action during flush. These modern toilets utilize a jet that helps to move water through the trapway while the water pressure pulls water from the bowl and are great for those who want to deal with fewer clogs and leaks. Elongated bowls are the most popular bowl shape for modern toilets. The bowl is an oval shape that’s usually 18 ½ iches. Round bowls are on the smaller size, their rounded bowl is about 16 ½ inches, which makes them a great options for bathrooms that don’t have a lot of space. A comfort height toilet may be a better option if you have trouble sitting or standing, or if you’re on the taller side. Comfort height means the seat is at about 17-19 inches off the floor. Standard height toilets on the the other hand are about 2 inches shorter in height.

Are you more one-piece, or two-piece? One-piece toilets have the bowl and tank wrapped up into one unit. These modern toilets are easy to clean and tend to be more stable than their two-piece counterparts. More popular and generally more affordable, two-piece toilets have a separte tank and bowl. Other Features to Consider If you live in a region with a humid climate, you will want to consider a toilet that has an insulated tank. Insulated tanks will prevent condestation from building up, keeping the walls and flooring from wearing prematurely. Trapways are the S or elbow shape at the side of the toilet. They’re the pathway waste travels as it exits the toilet after you flush. While maintaing the flow of sewage and waster water, trapways help to provide a liquid seal, which keeps your toilet from experiencing any backflow of sewer gas. Help to prevent tiny hands and fingers from getting smashed by integrating a soft close toilet seat. Rather than slamming shut, it slowly closes.
