Create The Official T-shirt of Geekend 2016! Savannah’s an incredibly talented design city. Can you stand out from the crowd to design Geekend’s 2016 T-shirt? Geekend brings makers, hustlers, hackers, and designers together -– along with other entrepreneurial innovators in the technology and creative spaces to foster new partnerships, create networking opportunities, and kick start the launch of new ideas.

The Creative Coast organizes the conference, and a variety of local businesses and thought leaders support the endeavor. Check out some previous t-shirts here! The official t-shirt will be worn by nearly 400 attendees and volunteers. Entrants will receive a discount code and finalists, and the winner, will receive a free ticket to Geekend! Geekend is October 14 and 15 in Savannah, GA. By entering a design, you agree to the rules below. Submit as Many Designs as You Like! The top five T-shirt designs will be picked by a panel of judges. These top designs will then be posted for online voting. The ultimate winner will be determined through this online voting process. Once submitted, all designs become the property of Geekend, and the designer agrees to grant exclusive use to Geekend and its clothing retailer. You may retain it for your portfolio and use it for self promotion at your own discretion. The designer must submit his or her own original artwork only.

Any non-original logos, photos, or images used in the design must be used only with the express, written permission of the source and also grant Geekend unlimited, free use of that logo, photo, or image. The designer agrees that the compensation for unlimited use of their T-shirt design by Geekend and their clothing retailer is limited to one ticket to Geekend All designs must include “2016” and one or more of the following words/phrases: “Geek” or “Geekend.” Designs may also include “Savannah” Designs must be limited to ONE color. Half-tones (i.e. lighter versions) of the color are considered an additional color. Designer may feel free to create someone in multiple colors for their own promotion, but t-shirts will be printed with a single color. Please email your design as a JPG file for purposes of initial judging and for posting the top designs for online voting. If your design wins, please be prepared to send your design in Vector format (.

This means that the design must be created in either PhotoShop (.EPS), Adobe Illustrator (.AL), or Corel Draw (. Geekend is a positive economic driver for our area, and it has the potential to help put Savannah, as well as Hilton Head, Bluffton, Ridgeland, and Hardeeville, on the map in a way that can attract real, sustainable, growth. We’re all part of the Savannah Metro area so the more we pull together on initiatives such as Geekend, the more everyone benefits. In Quebec there’s the geekbecois, in South Africa there’s GeekFest, in Savannah there’s Geekend. Geeks have truly gone global. To get between all the groups of geeks there’s even Geeks on a Plane, organized by 500 Startups. Does it matter if you don’t consider yourself a geek? Miriam-Webster’s defines a geek as (1) a usually intelligent person who does not fit in with other people and (2) a person who is very interested in and knows a lot about a particular field or activity. “When I’ll be on the plane back to San Francisco, I’m going to tell everyone – Savannah’s really got it going on!” Ben Sykes one of the Geekend speakers was thrilled at his workshop after he raised the question “Who has a real breakthrough idea from the audience?”

So many people had… and I was so proud! In short, Geekend was great! Our speakers were a pleasure to work with and brought great insights to the table. Our attendees were engaged and asked smart questions. Our sponsors not only partnered with us behind the scenes, they participated throughout the event as well. Our volunteers were energetic and attentive to the many tasks needed to create a good flow. Being a serial entrepreneur, I always seek out opportunities that can sharpen me and my endeavors. The 2015 Geekend Conference presented by The Creative Coast, held October 15th – 17th has exposed my inner “Geek”!
