2011 Ford Shelby GT500 Super Snake Need for Speed Edition auction bannerEnlarge PhotoBack in 2011, Electronic Arts, the publisher of the Need for Speed video game franchise, teamed up with Carroll Shelby and his crew at Shelby American to create a one-off Ford Shelby GT500 Super Snake that was to be auctioned off the following year to help raise funds for the Carroll Shelby Foundation. Sadly, Shelby passed away just a couple of months after the reveal of the special Mustang and the auction ended up being put on hold. Fast forward to today and the car is now back on the auction block, and considering it’s the last specialty car developed with the man himself, it’s likely to rake in plenty for his charity. The auction is being handled by eBay and runs until May 26. The opening bid has been set at $125,000 and anyone hoping to place their own bid with need to be pre-qualified. Appropriately, Shelby’s last specialty car was a Ford Mustang, in this case one modified to 2011 GT500 Super Snake spec.

It’s based on a 2011 Mustang GT but the stock V-8 has been swapped out for a supercharged 5.4-liter lump good for 750 horsepower. The car also wears Shelby’s classic Wimbledon White paint scheme as well as a Charcoal stripe package. There’s a host of additional performance mods including a Ford Racing handling pack, 20-inch wheels from HRE, Falken tires, and a billet short-throw shifter for the six-speed manual transmission. According to the auction listing, the car also has 2,000 miles on its odometer. The car is currently located at Shelby American’s headquarters in Las Vegas. The winner will receive special delivery package which includes a handover at the official Shelby museum in Vegas, limo pickup and return, a full photo experience with the car, a museum tour, and some personalized Shelby American gifts.
