Rubber Flooring Raw Materials

Facility Addition and Renovation Company: Johnsonite Rubber Flooring Location: Middlefield, OH Market: Manufacturing For this design-build project, LPG assisted Johnsonite in the relation of existing process equipment to a new location in Middlefield, Ohio. In a collaborative effort, requirements were established for the new facility by developing process equipment layouts, building layouts, process and building ventilation requirements, and power distribution for the process equipment and facility. The project consisted of renovating an existing 70,000 square-foot warehouse and adding a 30,000 square-foot building to the warehouse to convert the warehouse into a manufacturing facility for the relocated process equipment and addition of new equipment. This was a multi-discipline engineering and architectural effort along with LPG design-build construction services. Some of the design responsibilities included site work, storm water management, structural design, power distribution, grounding and lighting systems, building and process ventilation and architectural that included building design based on the process layout.

Due to the age of the existing facility, an environmental site assessment was conducted to determine asbestos and lead content for mitigation. The design-build efforts included construction cost estimates, construction bid packages, submittals, contract awards and construction management services involving scheduling, contractor coordination, quality control and safety. This project illustrates LPG's ability to execute a design-build project from design conception through construction in accordance with the client's need and the overall collaborative effort to maximize the efficiency of capital expenditures and schedule requirements. Deconstruction and Construction Waste What: The amount of trash created when we removed one building and constructed another was reduced by over 80%. This was done by separating recyclable materials, such as scraps of steel, brick, and wood, from non-recyclables. Why: By recycling building materials, we kept 513 tons of material out of the landfill.

Reusing building materials also means fewer new materials need to be made, which saves energy. Be Green At Home: Your sack lunch is a building project. Can you build a lunch that creates very little trash?

Custom Stroller And Car Seat Covers Why: Making recycled products uses less energy than new products and does less damage to the environment because fewer raw materials are used.

Be Green At Home: Many inventions happen when people are looking for ways to reuse items. Can you reuse items to make an invention that solves a problem or helps you do a job? What: We recycle mixed paper, plastic, glass, and aluminum as part of our recycling system. We have bins throughout the center to sort these materials and then take them to the recycling center. Why: It takes less energy to recycle materials than to make materials brand new. Recycling also reduces the amount of trash sent to a landfill and reduces the energy used to operate landfills. Be Green At Home: Most trash services offer curb-side recycling. You can also create your own recycle bins and take recyclables to the recycling center.
