Dr. Jane Boston is a 1989 graduate of Louisiana State University’s School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Boston began TCVM (Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine) acupuncture studies in 2007 and herbal studies in 2008. She was certified in veterinary acupuncture in 2009 and has completed the veterinary herbal program at the Chi Institute in 2008/2009. Dr. Boston practices Integrative Medicine, with the focus on TCVM (acupuncture and herbals, diet and exercise). Outside of work, Dr. Boston is interested in the mind-body-health connection, environmental concerns, and the significance of the Mayan calendar. Her current hobbies are kayaking, hiking, and gardening. Lisa Teske graduated from the veterinary school at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas, in 2002. Dr. Teske was then accepted into an advanced competitive internal medicine and surgery rotating Internship from 2002 to 2003 at Blue Pearl (formerly called Florida Veterinary Specialists) in Tampa, FL. Other electives pursued during her specialized training were Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Oncology, Behavior, and Exotics.

Dr. Teske has continued to practice veterinary medicine in the area since this time, and brought her specialized talents and training to join the ranks of our team in 2012. Dr. Teske is also a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist (CVA) by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society since February 2008. Dr Teske’s professional interests include complementary medicine (herbal therapies, acupuncture/aquapuncture/electrostimulation/moxibustion, and food modification), pain management for all species, avian internal medicine, pocket pet husbandry, feline respiratory diseases, and canine endocrine disorders. Dr. Teske’s recreational interests include kayaking down the Hillsborough River, mountain biking, yoga, Nebraska Cornhusker football games, Tampa Bay Lightning hockey games, scuba diving, deep sea fishing, photography, and international travels. Dr. Teske lives with her husband, Dr. Samuel Teske, who owns his own Ophthalmology practices in the New Tampa and Trinity areas, their 3 children, rescued Border Collie mix dog named Sadie, and their Congo African Gray parrot named Zazu.

A graduate of Louisiana State University’s School of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Nicole Trakas has practiced clinical and emergency medicine since 1998. Internal medicine and the human-animal bond are among Dr. Trakas’ particular interests. Dr. Trakas is mother to a son, a daughter, a terrier mix and a goldendoodle. Her hobbies include gardening, running, scuba diving and sailing. Dr. Melissa Smith graduated from Louisiana State School of Veterinary medicine in 2011. Prior to veterinary school she completed post graduate studies in cognitive and behavioral science with a focus on animal behavior, more specifically establishing enrichment programs for zoo animals. She continued her academic pursuits by completing a small animal internal medicine and surgery internship at BluePearl Veterinary Partners in Tampa from 2011-2012. From there Dr. Smith began to focus her career exclusively in exotic animal medicine and surgery by completing a zoo medicine and surgery internship at Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine from 2012-2013.

For the past 2 years, Dr. Smith has been in private practice working exclusively with exotic companion animals outside of our nation's capital in northern Virginia. A native Floridian, Dr. Smith moved back to the Tampa area and joined our team in July of 2015. She is happy to return to canine and feline medicine and surgery as well as offer exotic medicine and surgery skills to the bay area. When not at work she enjoys spending time with her furry and feathered family as well as exploring the beautiful waters and landscapes of the area. Dr. Serena Bloom is one of the newest additions to Country Chase Veterinary, joining the team in July 2015. She is very excited to experience Tampa and meet more of the animals and people of the Gulf Coast! She is a two-time Gator Graduate, earning her undergraduate degrees and doctorate from the University of Florida. Dr. Bloom finished her undergraduate career with a Summa Cum Laude degree in Art History, a Cum Laude degree in Zoology and a minor in International Studies.

She always had an interest in animals, conservation, pursued research in alligators, the evolution of male parental behavior in fish, and other subjects, before eventually finding her passion in Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Bloom is dedicated to treating every pet like family and providing the best possible care to all of her patients. Her special interests include preventative medicine, the human/animal bond, exotic medicine and husbandry, behavior, rehabilitation, and hospice care; although she is always finding more. In her spare time Dr. Bloom enjoys playtime with her own pets: Chewbaccca, a Catahoula/American Bulldog mix, Yeti “The Abominable Snowman”, a furry white cat, and Thumper “The Pirate Bunny”, an one-eyed, bob-tailed cat. Her hobbies also include art, reading, hiking, fishing, traveling, and discovering new adventures. Dr. Burns graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and a minor in Chemistry and is a 2006 graduate of the University of Florida’s College of Veterinary Medicine.

She then completed a one-year small animal rotating internship at Tufts Cummings College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Burns completed her small animal surgery residency at The Ohio State University, College of Veterinary Medicine, where she also received a Master’s of Science Degree. In 2012 and 2013, Dr. Burns became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, respectfully. Dr. Burns is an active member of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, AO Foundation, American Veterinary Medical Association, Florida Veterinary Medical Association, Veterinary Society of Surgical Oncology and Veterinary Wound Management Society. Dr. Burns’s clinical interests include joint replacement, sports medicine and rehabilitation, surgical oncology and wound management. Dr. Chris Ludlow, DACVIM Dr. Chris Ludlow is a Diplomate of the American Veterinary College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.

He earned his DVM with honors from Kansas State University in 1986. After graduation he worked in a busy small animal general practice in southern California for five years. He then returned to the KSU and completed a combined internal medicine/small animal clinical nutrition residency and Masters Degree program under Dr. David Williams. Dr. Ludlow has over 15 years of experience in ultrasound and endoscopy in university and referral hospital settings. He trained under Dr. David Biller for abdominal ultrasonography, and under Dr. Matt Miller and Dr. John Bonagura in the area of echocardiography. He has lectured extensively nationally and internationally in gastroenterology and has taught endoscopy wet labs at national meetings with Dr. Todd Tams and Dr. Al Jurgens. Dr. Ludlow is an active member of the Comparative Gastroenterology Society. He has also been a Fellow for Mark Morris Institute for Clinical Nutrition for over 10 years where he has help teach clinical nutrition to students at veterinary schools all over the US and abroad.

When not busy consulting with veterinarians or lecturing, Dr. Ludlow enjoys cycling, hiking, nearly all types of music and the occasional bottle of good wine. Meet our Veterinary Chiropractor Dr Carolyn Scott grew up in St. Petersburg. After earning her B. A. in biology from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, MN and a Masters degree in Secondary Science Education she taught high school science briefly. Then she decided she wanted to help people on a different level and studied chiropractic medicine, at the National University of Health Sciences, with a special interest in sports medicine.  Dr. Scott also studied acupuncture and became a Fellow in the International Academy of Medical Acupuncture.  During her time in private practice Dr Scott also taught at St. Petersburg College in the Natural Science Department. After more than 10 years in private practice Dr. Scott decided to follow her love of animals and go into veterinary medicine.  She graduated from Ross University on the Caribbean island of St. Kitts.
