Well made machine and performs perfectly. This is a quality product. Bought a cheaper model and took it back. This thing will last decades instead of years. A lot heavier than other stick vacs and stiff for tight turns but vacumns really well, better than regular stic vacs. I bought this thing because my fancy pants Mother-in-Law had one in her fancy house, and it worked flawlessly on both their wood floors and low pile carpets. Love Miele products but cord wind clip broke and they want me to take to a dealer. Just send me the part and I'll be happier.Have had one of their canister vacs for 8 years and it's been the best purchase.

You seriously get what you pay for in the vacuum department. I do have my ancient Electrolux Silverado, which I always rave about, but hesitate to get rid of. It's one of those vacuums that will last forever provided it's well-maintained. I sense that the Miele is one of those brands that can be trusted to last and last. Just listening to that motor purr when I flipped the switch told me that.Assembly is actually intuitive. Within a couple of minutes I had the Miele assembled and ready to go. There are no complicated instructions for assembly that made my head spin. I simply attached the telescopic wand to the body of the Miele, attached the handpiece, the rug and floor tool brush, and put the upholstery and crevice tools on the accessory clip. I definitely like onboard storage of tools because they are so easy to lose.With the 1000 watt motor I was fully expecting the Miele to sound like a jet taking off. I'm telling you that I was some impressed when it purred instead of roared. It didn't bother my dogs and if I had the television on, I probably could have listened to a show.

There's a double slide switch on the front that's quite easy to work with only two active settings, minimum and maximum. The only problem I had vacuuming was when I went to do an ultra-lightweight throw rug.The suction power of the Miele is amazing, but unlike a couple of my other vacs, it didn't eat up throw rugs. With power on minimum I was able to do my throw rugs easily. The floor switch was easy to work and access as I vacuumed. When I was working my only thought was that I couldn't and wouldn't be able to get under my woodstove or other items with a low clearance. Wrong.If I want to get under the couch or a bureau, I simply take off the telescopic wand, attach it to the bottom of the vacuum, put on the rug and floor brush, and put the handpiece back on. It's very innovative and easy. FYI, the telescopic wand is great because it can be adjusted to fit people of varying heights. One other thing is that it's solid, heavy, and not at all like that of inexpensive vacs. It's got the heft of my Silverado, but is easier to work with.

I can wax poetic about the Miele for hours, but I won't. My other vacs work great, but I don't expect that they will outlive me. I do think the Miele was built to last and will. It picks up pet hair and dust readily. Those dust bunnies don't have a chance and just making a pass near them sucks them up. What takes me a few minutes with my Miele takes many passes with my Roomba.
