Horrified, we soon found out why this was so - this little Chihuahua has been through a lot and we are glad that she has found a loving home. Here is her story so far. Feel free to discuss Breezy on this Chihuahua Rescue Victoria Facebook post for Breezy.

On Facebook we announced this new girl had just came in and will shortly be looking for a forever home. We asked for some name suggestions, something rhyming with cheesy! Here are the brilliant suggestions we got. Breezy was the name that appealed to us the most - thanks to Deb E! If you are a regular reader of our updates, you will know how much we dislike puppy farms and what they do to these little dogs. Breezy came in here to us from a puppy farm. She was constantly vomiting and gagging - throwing up clear bile and some white froth similar to when they are hungry but she was eating a lot! We took her to our vet Jann - from Beach Street Veterinary Clinic. While he examined her, Breezy started vomiting. Jann thought it might be a hiatus hernia or some sort of stomach blockage, so he prescribed antibiotics and other medication to help settle her stomach. I am so thankful he did! Today we took Breezy back to the vet to be desexed. The horrible mess that was found inside her has shocked our vet, who said he had never seen anything like it.

I was stunned and almost fainted when I saw what they removed from her. I cannot imagine the agony this little girl has been in for possibly four years. The puppy farm gave her up because "she would not breed". Her uterus was infected - a condition known as pyometra. It was ruptured and torn into three pieces. One piece was attached to her kidneys and it was full of pus. The other pieces had become attached to her bladder, bowel and liver. It is a miracle that she is still alive and has survived all this time. Thank you Catherine, the vet who operated! She took ages to separate all the bits of Breezy's uterus, and one ovary attached to a kidney. We held a 24 hour watch as she was very low, poor baby. She ate some stew and the next day began a week long course of antibiotics and painkillers. Prayers were needed and given. Breezy put up a big fight to survive this! As usual, when we put up a newly rescued Chihuahua ready for placement, we do so on our blog. Here is Breezy's entry: Breezy put up for Adoption.

A little darling who has now survived massive surgery to repair her internal organs - a procedure which included desexing, microchipping, teeth removal and cleaning. She is now looking for her forever home but will require gentle nursing and spoiling for the rest of her life. She does have a food allergy and we are in the process of eliminating foods on trial to find out what is not agreeing with her.

And they let her! We have an enormous back yard, and she has been spending her time exploring. We have two garden gargoyles and she cocks her leg on them every time she passes them by, just like a boy. She makes me smile. Sleeping in my bed was a hit. Not so much with the other dogs as she stole the prime position and there was a bit of jostling through the night, but overall it was an easy first night. She is such a delight, and smiles every time I look at her. I love her so much already. Thank you so much for what you do! You have brought a lot of joy to my life with Breezy. I will give you another update soon. Here she is in her snug. She refuses to wear a jumper. I put them on and she takes them off, so I bought her this lovely soft piece of fabric which she likes to dig into and take a snooze within! Most of the time though, she follows me. She is the most loyal little darling. I have discovered she hates the vacuum cleaner and tries to bite it every time I use it.

She also hates the dogs next door, but gets along quite well with my other dogs. My other two love to play chasey and wrestle like mad things, and she looks interested but doesn't seem to know how to join in. She doesn't seem to know how to play much at all, and I put that down to her background, but I have caught her playing with a toy rabbit and 'killing' one of our rugs. However, if I speak she stops and looks like she is waiting for a smack. Given time, I hope she becomes more relaxed and realises she will never get in trouble here. She has adapted at the speed of light to sleeping under my doona, and has to be hauled out in the morning. No signs of any allergies - yay! But I am still being careful with what she eats. She is a huge success with the family, Drew is quite smitten, but she has chosen me as 'her person', which thrills me. There is no chance of her coming back to you! I wouldn't let her go for all the tea in China! After everything that little Breezy has been through, Mayer and I very much appreciate the love that this rescued Chihuahua will receive in her forever home.
