Pet Pigs For Sale In Canada

Meet Esther, the Wonder Pig. She lives with her two dads and sister dog, Shelby, in Georgetown, Ontario. Esther’s dads bought this cutie, thinking she was a “micro pig.” But, as many alleged micro pigs do, she kept growing…Until she grew into her sassy self at 400 lbs. While many pig owners would have given her up, these two dads decided to keep and love the lady they raised. According to their website, Esther has influenced them to eat and live more humanely, and they encourage others to do the same. And how can you blame them when you look at this cuddle session?? Plus, she really is just part of the family. They love Esther but they are not attempting to glamorize the pet pig lifestyle: it is hard work. On their Facebook page, they write: “We absolutely DO NOT advise anyone to take on a pig like Esther in their homes. We have made this decision for two reasons. we were misled regarding what Esther was when we got her. People need to know the potential risks you’re opening yourself up to with a pig.

We expected a mini pig, Esther is what we got. Please do plenty of research and consider adoption of your pig if you really feel you are up to being a piggy parent. It is an amazing experience and she has changed our lives in amazing ways however; it was a ton of work.” Let’s just pause and admire this wondrous sleeping beauty! Be still, my heart. Not only is she the cutest napper…No, seriously, THE cutest napper… …but her winter fashion game is on point. Esther’s owners are now hoping to open their own sanctuary, to give a home to discarded or abused animals like Esther. They’re actually fundraising through their website! And with a face like this, can you blame them for falling in love?? To find out more about Esther and her dads, visit her website or Facebook page. Its hard to find breeders of any breed who actually care about the health and well being of the animals theyI can tell you that in many ways my cavies are cared for exceptionally well and all get extra special care who are loved equallyWith my Sincerest and Honest TruthMrs. Natalie Howell ~ Owner of Hairless Hilltop Hunks~We are proud to welcome the arrival of a very rare and special breed of pig to Canada, the Kune Kune! Kune Kunes were raised by the Maori in New Zealand and bred to be both friendly and docile, but hardy enough to fatten on forage alone. (Their name means “fat and round!”) Although we love raising our Berkshire hogs, we do see that even on pasture, most pigs still require grain, and generally speaking, lots of it to fatten. Ecologically, grassfed animals (such as cattle and lamb) are superior because the fossil fuel requirements to grow grain are not there. And as grain gets more expensive to produce, so do the animals that need it to grow.

We thought….what if it were possible to raise a grassfed pig? Then we found the Kune Kunes. In our estimation they are pig perfection and here’s why: It is the most ecologically responsible pork imaginable. At the same time, it is delicious: sweet, succulent, well suited to everything from whole pig roasts to charcuterie. This is a pork as of yet unknown to Canada. Having tasted it abroad, I can tell you that it is special. What’s more, these little pigs are the most wonderful companions. Many people keep Kunes as pets; they are intelligent and gentle. And whereas a sow or boar of most any other breed will easily surpass 700 lbs, Kune Kunes max out at 200. They are a safe breed for families, for people who want a safe relationship with their animals, and for people looking for self-sufficient meat production. We believe Kune Kunes are revolutionary from an ecological and culinary perspective and we are excited to offer this rare breed in Canada.
