LightBulb Depot Reviews Filter Filter Employee Reviews Popular Rating Date Feb 17, 2016 Helpful (1) I worked at LightBulb Depot full-time (More than 5 years) Pros If you are so lucky to get an inside sales position you are assigned a sales area based on zip codes, and get your hourly plus a very small commission. Unused vacation reimbursement and sick time. Working weekends is voluntary. Each Location is like its own little family, you get to know these people and spend so much time with them its hard not to feel like you are apart of one. Management will do what ever they can to help you(buy you lunch, take alonger lunch to run errand....) Cons Health insurance sucks for a company this size, be prepared to have other options. Promotions and raises are rarely given. More times than not a location will be shorthanded due to management not wanting to hire enough staff, and you will have to do the job of 3 people. Which will then force the inside sales person to not be able to do their assigned job and be written up for sales performance issues.
The training is very brief so you will look/sound like a fool to the customer until you get the hang of it. Employee turn around rate for counter sales and drivers are around 3-6 months, due to management ego, stress- fast paced environment and pay. Inventory ALWAYS falls on the weekend before Christmas without fail, so do not make any plans, you will be there all weekend. Advice to Management Accept that the term "No excuse" is no excuse for job performance slacking if you do not provide the adequate team, and some "management" doesn't know what they are doing and will not ask for help or advise. Cheap Gypsy Prom DressesRules, rules, and more rules (ex- literally 3 full pages typed front and back for procedures just to make a simple deposit), Advice to Management Advertise, more than just the wraps on the van. Realize that the way to do things on Memphis, might not work in Los Angeles.
The way to do things in Chicago, might not be the best for Atlanta. LISTEN to your people, RESPECT your people, and trust your people. Rather than ride managers all day long, train them better. Have training calls, let vendors come in and run a workshop, etc. Better training online, in person, and in books will help. Realize there is more to business than numbers. CEO needs to realize that he is not the smartest man on the planet. Lower your guard and trust your managers. Treat your employees with dignity and respect, or your company will not grow. Your benefits are nonexistent and horrible, needing a doctors note to use one sick day is pathetic. Who goes to the doctor when you wake up sick? You wait at least a day to see if it passes. Store management is filled with lazy ,racist and homophobes who avoid work at all cost. Other employees just stroll in whenever they want with no consequences. Health insurance is so expensive that none of the employees buy it. Company policies being enforced are put above the customers" needs and achieving long term sales and growth goals. Teamwork among employees is not really promoted by company polices or rules or the type of work environment they foster. The work culture they promote and/or they way business is conducted here is below the professional standards of other companies.
