Indoor Tennis Court Lighting Requirements

Tennis court LED lighting, whether for indoor tennis courts or outdoor, needs to be as close as possible to actual daylight, even when playing at night. A high level of light is required for effective play, and players also want to have consistent light across the full playing area. Municipalities and private tennis clubs have become environmentally responsible and economically smart. They want to maximize tennis court light levels and minimize the glare, all while minimizing their costs as well. This is why LED tennis lights are the solution, as they are both energy efficient and superior to other types of lights. Tennis court luminaires, such as LED floodlights, increase the visibility of the tennis balls, lines and opponents, which allows the players to respond and act quickly. LED floodlights have high daylight color temperature and uniform illumination, so tennis games can be played at any time of the day or night with great visibility. Since tennis courts have tight dimensions, a typical playing area for a single tennis court is 60 by 120 feet, SpecGrade LED can provide LED tennis floodlights that illuminate courts according to any standard, for single tennis courts as well as multiple courts in a cage.

Outdoor city tennis courts need to be considerate to their neighbors and avoid shining excessive light on adjoining properties. Reduce your light pollution with LEDs that deliver light specifically to the tennis court and not the surrounding area. If you want to change your tennis lighting to LED, you don’t have to start over. Instead of bringing in brand new fixtures, we can take out the existing fluorescent tube lights and retrofit your current fixtures with LED light bulbs. If you currently have indirect metal halides, our cost effective LED solution reduces the installation cost and disruption to your facility. This way you get LED performance and energy savings with a fraction of the cost of new LED fixture installation. Control your tennis court lighting with a management system that allows the lights to be switched on and off at the entrance of the court. You can also adjust the levels of illumination to provide even more savings on electricity. For tennis court LED lights, SpecGrade LED can take care of all your LED lighting needs.

New Indirect LED Indoor Tennis Court Lighting by Access Fixtures WORCESTER, Mass., July 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Access Fixtures announces the introduction of the new TULA Series of indirect LED tennis court lighting fixtures available in three wattages. Delivering superior performance of 140 lumens per watt, the TULA indirect tennis court luminaires emit between 47,400 and 85,500 lumens to meet the exacting standards of tennis clubs, collegiate tennis facilities, and professional level competition. For new facilities, Access Fixtures offers photometric study services to determine the quantity, wattage, and distribution of the luminaires to meet recommended lighting standards. In existing facilities, the TULA can replace metal halide luminaires on a one-for-one basis, eliminating the cost of new wiring. Photometric studies can be employed to validate that one-for-one replacement.

"The TULA indirect LED tennis court luminaires were engineered specifically for use in indoor tennis facilities and are designed to deliver a high-performance, indirect light source with minimal maintenance and reduced energy use," said Access Fixtures CEO Steven Rothschild. "With these LED indirect tennis luminaires we can now provide cost-effective LED lighting solutions for all levels of tennis: recreational, club level, or competition." In a multi-tennis-court facility, fourteen TULA fixtures per court achieved an average of 105 footcandles, a uniformity ratio of 3 for the entire eight-court facility, and an average of 1.6 uniformity in the primary playing areas. TULA indirect LED tennis court luminaires are rated LM70 at 100,000 hours of use and reduce energy use by 50% to 70% as compared with 1,000w metal halide lighting. Standard color rendering of 70 CRI is improved as compared to metal halide. Higher CRI is optional. 3000K, 4000K, or 5700K LEDs are available. Dimming is also available.
