Machine screws literally will be "undone", the compressed drywall will "dust out" of the backside and there will be less meat holding the thing together. All modern building codes specify that any kind of handrail is installed into wood blocking. Wood screws have a steeper pitch than machine screws so the torque needed to get them to "back out" is greater. They are VERY easy to install. I have a heavy mirror hung with one of these, I think rated to 100 lbs that is not secured into the stud and it has held very well for over 6 years. 125 posts, read 348,097 times Forget toggles, they're a gimmick. If in doubt center it on (2) 50 lb ones. Originally Posted by fleck I didn't say the item was 100 lbs, the anchor is rated for 100 lbs. I say spread the load out with several E-Z Lock and Twist type hangers. Even if one let go (never happened to me), you would notice it in time (item sagging, etc.) to correct. 1,089 posts, read 1,790,107 times Originally Posted by whirnot +1 for the above post! Have you had any experience with 3M command strips?Absolutely not Gilt I just opened this mirror I ordered earlier in the year and agree with the earlier reviewer that it is not Gilt. I used the image to create a vignette of what this mirror would look like between the gilded Go Lightly sconces I choose and loved it - they were the same. It couldn't look more different in person. These images do not at all represent the actual darker, bronzy finish of the mirror. Wisteria Response: Thank you for your feedback. We have adjusted the name and description of this product to more accurately reflect the antiqued bronzed finish. Love the Shape but this finish is very Bronze! I bought this Mirror back in March before the finish name was changed online and at the time I bought thinking it was "gilt". Unfortunately it does not match my bathroom brass sconces and hardware and I am out of luck. I wish I had ordered the Antique finish! | I was torn between this mirror in gilt (bronzed) and the other color.
I was nervous when it arrived, but am so thrilled with color. It is more of a bronzy gold and it is perfect in my powder room over some gorgeous wallpaper! The shape is interesting and just feminine enough. It is heavy and substantial. Hanging was easy...once we figured out what to do with it. It has two large d-rings on the back, attached to the side. It wasn't an option for us to hang by these because of where our studs are located. The mirror weighs right under 20 lbs., so we used 40 lb. picture wire and ran a loop through the rings. Then, following the instructions on the picture wire hung on screws placed into the studs, in a butterfly formation (this is easier than it sounds). It was super easy to center and level once we did this, and it is sturdily attached. I would highly recommend this mirror! | Mirror IS ready to hang To the previous reviewer, mirrors should never be hung with wire as they are too heavy. It is always recommended that mirrors be hung on two hooks. I have done this many times and it is no problem.
