Like most people, you’ve probably heard time and again that if you have kids, you should adopt a Golden Retriever puppy (or, gasp! find a Golden Retriever puppy for sale). The rationale is that an adult shelter dog is an unknown quantity, so buying or adopting a Golden Retriever puppy is safer.
Puppies eventually can be trained out of this behavior, of course, and there are exceptions to every rule, but generally speaking, an adult Golden Retriever (or any adult dog) is much less likely to shred your drapes like coleslaw or function as a “helpful” canine document shredder. So a three-month-old Golden Retriever puppy needs to go outside every three hours, a four-month-old needs to go every four hours, and so on.  But if you’re planning on leaving your dog alone during your workday, you’ll definitely want to adopt a full-grown dog, ideally from a Golden Retriever rescue that can help you find the right dog for your lifestyle. Let’s bust these myths about adopting a Golden Retriever Time to get real: when we ask people what reservations they have about Golden Retriever adoption, we hear the same things over and over again.   You CAN find purebred Golden Retrievers for adoption in an animal shelter or rescue group. Golden Retrievers and Golden Retriever puppies for adoption are NOT in any way inferior to or different from those for sale.
If you want a puppy, you DON’T have to buy a Golden Retriever puppy.  Golden Retriever puppies ARE available for adoption. Here’s the truth: you absolutely can find a Golden Retriever, even a Golden Retriever puppy, for adoption in an animal shelter or rescue group.  Think about it: let’s say you buy a Golden Retriever puppy for sale by a breeder. But what would happen to your wonderful Golden Retriever if, tragically, something happened to you? The lucky person who adopts your Golden Retriever would be getting a great dog!  Golden Retriever rescue organizations often care for their adoptable dogs in foster homes, which means their foster families will be able to tell you if the Golden Retriever you want to adopt is good with other animals or kids, and if he or she is housebroken and knows any basic commands. As you can see, adopting from a rescue organization is likely the very safest way for people with children to add a new Golden Retriever to their family!Images & Text in

Can You Make The Commitment? Foster Homes are such an important part of Rescue. We rely on our Foster homes to be that "special place" for a Golden coming from one environment and preparing for that "forever" home. Our foster families play a critical role in insuring that their foster Golden finds the perfect new home. Their input during the placement process determines which family will provide the best home and brightest future. /foster.html to learn more.Golden Retriever Rescue of Central New York shared a link.Barking dog found alive in rubble 9 days after Italy's quakeGolden Retriever Rescue of Central New York shared their photo./news--events.htmlGolden Retriever Rescue of Central New York shared their photo.A beautiful in memory of tribute to Carol Allen, our leader mentor and friend.

My family surrendered me with my golden “sister” because of family issues.
Golden Retriever Rescue of Central New York agreed to take both of us in. My golden sister found her forever home and now I’m trying to find mine. Arizona has been fully vetted and is up-to-date on all her vaccinations. She is on flea/tick and heartworm meds. Her records show that she will be 8 years old in September. Good with cats (she had them in her previous home.) She loves her people, men and women. She is good with most other dogs, she seems best with easy going males (she is in a foster home with multiple dogs now.) She is crate trained and house broken. She knows sit, down and has good recall. She is very food motivated! She was allowed on furniture in her previous home, but the foster home is working on that and she gets off furniture when asked. She is very good in the car and travels in a crate. She does not play with toys or shows interest in chewies. She does get anxious during thunderstorms by panting and pacing. There is a $100 adoption fee. Please only interested inquiries within our Central New York area.

Making adoption possible, literally “takes a village”, from the intake, foster, and adoption coordination, to transportation, financial management , marketing/communication including websites and newsletters, managing events, data management, training and the list goes on.... As with many organizations now days, these tasks are left to the few tireless folks that believe in GRRCNY’s vision “dedicated to rescuing and rehoming purebred Golden Retrievers in Central New York.”
I’m sure you believe in the GRRCNY vision too, that is why I want to personally invite to our rescue meeting on August 18, 2016 at 7 pm. We need your help! Due to a fire at the church we meet at this past week, we have moved the meeting to the Cortland County Office Building at 60 Central Ave, Cortland, New York. This is about half way for everyone from the north, south, east, west. You should go to the front of the building that faces Central Ave. You will enter at the door marked as A1. We will use a conference room on the 2nd floor that is easy to get to once you show up. I encourage you to arrive early as the door to the building must be open by one of our members. If you arrive late, there will be a sign with a number to call and someone will come let you in. There is a huge parking lot along the side of the building so you can park anywhere on the end of it closest to Central Ave. I hope you can join us!! Please no dogs at the meetings. UPDATE: July 24 from Dale Gallucci: RILEY FOUND!!!! Just brought Riley back to the vet for the third time since we found him Tuesday4am. He is still not eating or drinking much things he would eat yesterday (dog crackers )he will not eat today or peanut butter that he loves, so she is going topump him with fluids and give him an enigma and keep him over night. Fingers crossed this this works. Courtesy Post: Reaching out to friends on the downstate new york area: From Dale... Gallucci: I am hoping that you can help me find my boy Riley, by watching your Golden's. He was at our summer home at 149 Dr. Duggan Road, Bethel, New York when he took off on7/2/16 and has not been seen since. I am away on a trip to CO. But my husband and family members were there but no one saw him leave. After they realized he was missing they all went out and said a neighbor saw him running they tried to stop him but he kept going. We called police, put signs up, called radio stations, lost pets, home again. He had his collar, on him, AGA (Adopt a Golden Atlanta) tag, rabies, his hair was cut very short shaved a few weeks ago).
Please call my cell and let me know if you can help me @ 201-390-7279 Respond to directly to number above. Golden Retriever Rescue of Central New YorkTo shave or not to shave your Golden?? By Nancy Bynes, NCMG of Nevada City With warmer temperatures finally coming to Nevada County, many dog owners are exploring options to help their pets stay comfortable. Shaving off all that hair is probably the most popular option. Indeed, for some coat types, this is an ideal solution. With the exception of hard-coated terriers, dogs come in one of two coat types: single coated and double coated....Continue ReadingGolden Retriever Rescue of Central New York shared a link.Don’t let your pet be a “hot dog” this summer – understand the risks of heat-related illness |...Golden Retriever Rescue of Central New YorkNOTICE: The GRRCNY June 16th meeting has been cancelled.
