Detroit Lions linebacker DeAndre Levy is donating 100 tickets to the Pride Day at Ford Field Oct. 25, according to the Detroit Regional LGBT Chamber of Commerce. The Lions play host to rival Minnesota Vikings that day. "During our conversation, he wanted to support the LGBT community and make it clear that all fans are welcomed to the game," LGBT Chamber Board of Directors president Kevin Heard said.

While the Lions are not official hosts for the Pride Day, it's great to see one of the team's players step up and support the event. The LGBT Chamber, which is organizing the Pride Day, will give some of the tickets to three LGBT non-profits in the Detroit area: Affirmations, metro Detroit's LGBT Center LGBT Detroit, an LGBT awareness and support center in Detroit Ruth Ellis Center, serving the needs of runaway, homeless and at-risk youth Levy has been with the Lions since he was drafted by the team in 2009 out of Wisconsin.
