May 1, 2013   Subscribe Build-it-yourself wood hot tub - good weekend project for an amateur, or more difficult than that? You don't need to be a experienced carpenter or a rocket scientist to put together a wood hot tub kit.  In fact just about any body can tackle this in weekend with out any specialty tools or past experience.  Our wooden hot tub kits have been engineered as a DIY kit right from the beginning.
To start with we take away all the hard parts that might get you into trouble.  Curtains And Drapes VelvetFor example the hot tub staves (side walls) come with all the holes pre-drilled and at the correct height.  Is Laminate Flooring Going Out Of FashionIf you ordered a tub with 8 jets then there will be 8 jet holes each at the proper height.  Hardwood Flooring Vs Laminate MaintenanceSimple follow the instructions and place the staves in the order described in our manual. Next the Floor comes pre-assembled.  Unlike other companies, we ship the full floor in one piece already mounted to the 4" x 4" support joists.  No need to put together two half's of a circle!   Simply position the base where your tub will be and that is it!
We also pre-assemble the spa pack on its plastic skid pad and pre wire the pump to the electric heater.  The filter and drain are also installed.  This means all you need to do is screw in the jets and suction fittings and glue the flexible pipe together back to the skid pad. It is recommended that when assembling a wood hot tub kit you grab a buddy to help you to make it easier and more fun.  You will need a couple tools such as a drill and a crescent wrench to tighten the stainless steel bands. A wood hot tub kit has many advantages over a plastic acrylic spa: You can easily transport the parts any where such as through a gate to a back yard, up stairs, and even to an island on a boat! You save on shipping costs.  Our Wood hot tub kits are flat packed to reduce space and costs associated with shipping.  This allows us to ship all over USA, Alaska, Hawaii and to Europe and Australia at a fraction of the cost of a fully assembled tub. You will gain full understanding of the construction and operation!
When assembling a wood hot tub kit you will instantly become a pro at understanding your tub form the foundation to the plumbing, you will have full knowledge of how your tub works.  Try doing that with an acrylic tub....  one problem and it call the technician! Pride of owner ship.  There is just something to be said about owning something that you built your self! Don't want to install your tub?   Hire a fiend or a neighbor!  Just about anyone that can read a manual is capable of assembling our tubs.  If you still are unsure about a wood hot tub kit then let us know and we can offer you factory pre-assembly for a fee.  However be advised that shipping a fully assembled tub is approx 3 times the cost!  Click here for more information on factory assembled wooden hot tub. Thousands of customers, from “all thumbs” weekend warriors to experienced handymen, have assembled Snorkel® Hot Tubs perfectly. You’ll need only a few basic tools, and assembling it yourself will give you a deep sense of accomplishment. Typically, assembly of a wood-fired tub takes about 4 hours with two people working and having previously read the instructions.
It can be done by one person, but two or more not only make it easier, its also more fun. Would you prefer to have your Snorkel® Hot Tub delivered fully assembled and ready to go? Give us a call for pre-assembled “White Glove” Delivery. If you choose a pre-assembled tub you should be aware that they are fairly easy for two adults to tip a hot tub and roll it, but that they weigh approximately 400 lbs so that lifting a hot tub, even with a crew, is really not a consideration. Some owners decide to have a handyman or professional contractor assemble their tub. There is nothing fundamentally wrong with this approach, but in our experience it has resulted in a disproportionately high percentage of problems. This is virtually always the result of the contractor or handyman being unwilling to devote the time to read and understand the manual and follow the instructions. This is rarely a problem with the average owner because they realize that — never having put a tub together before — they have to read and understand the instructions before starting the project.
It is easy to assemble, but there are decades of experience, trial and error, tips and feedback from owners in the instructions, all distilled to make it as foolproof as possible. Not reading the instructions is a recipe for failure. Insist that your contractor/handyman agree to read the instructions before beginning assembly. The Secret of our Kits’ SuccessAfter decades of making tubs, we’ve perfected our kits — they’re easy to assemble and operate. Assembling your kit is not just an enjoyable experience, but a practical one too. You'll know it inside out and easily handle the minimal maintenance it requires. “I wish I could relate how satisfying the experience of building my own hot tub was for this ’do-it-yourselfer’ from first phone call to you through ordering, shipping, construction, installation, and final use and enjoyment. Thank you so much!” — Howard Kinkaid, Allentown PA Snorkel® Hot Tubs YouTube Videos ♦♦ Hot Tub Assembly Videos ♦♦
