A viewfinder given out at E3 2008.The Fallout 4 launch date has come and gone and the highly anticipated game now has a release date set in stone. In the aftermath of the E3 2015 announcement, we’ve seen a number of new Fallout 4 release date details emerge and today we want to tell you about the most important ones. On Sunday, Bethesda took the stage and showcased its successor to Fallout 3, a game that’s unsurprisingly called Fallout 4.
Fallout 4 for PS4, PC and Xbox One has been years in the making and fans of the series are extremely excited that the company isn’t dragging out its release. The Fallout 4 release date is confirmed for November 10th, a date that slots in perfectly during the holiday shopping season. In the days since the Fallout 4 announcement, we’ve seen a number of new Fallout 4 release details emerge for PS4 and for Microsoft’s Xbox One. We expect to see a number of other details arrive between now and the game’s November release date but here’s what we think you need to know about the Fallout 4 release date after E3. At E3 2015, Microsoft confirmed plans to release a unique Fallout 4 bundle that will appeal to those that never got to play Fallout 3. The company plans to bundle Fallout 3 in with the Xbox One version of Fallout 4. Unfortunately, details about Microsoft’s exclusive bundle are scarce and it’s not entirely clear how it will work. Fallout 3 was, and is, an Xbox 360 game not an Xbox One game.
In our eyes, there are three scenarios. The first is that the bundle comes with the Xbox 360 version of the game. This doesn’t make too much sense to us given Microsoft’s Xbox One push but it’s possible. The second is that Fallout 3 will be a title that’s included with Microsoft’s new Backwards Compatibility platform that allows Xbox One owners to play some Xbox 360 games. The game is not included in Microsoft’s initial list of games coming later this year. And finally, perhaps we’ll see a Fallout 3 remastered edition for Xbox One. The odds of this happening though are slim to none. Fallout 3 was and still is a huge game and the company would have likely detailed a remaster on stage during its massive press event. The Fallout 4 release date is already experiencing problems as the collectors edition of the game is struggling to stay in stock at various retailers. The Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition comes with a real-life working Pip Boy and it seems fans of the series are extremely interested in the accessory.
The Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition is sold out everywhere at the moment including Bethesda’s own web store. It’s not clear when retailers will get more stock. In an effort to help those of you looking to buy this version ahead of its release, we recently outlined the steps you need to take to find the game in stock. We’re expecting the company to release more pre-orders in the months ahead but you’ll need to be on top of it if you really want a copy. The Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition will be out on November 10th, same as the regular version, though it comes with a $120 price tag. The regular version of Fallout 4 costs $60. Xbox One users were elated when Bethesda confirmed that it would allow them to use PC mods. The Fallout modding community is big and it’s these mods that help prolong the lives of these Fallout games. It appears that PS4 owners will also be able to use PC mods though the release date isn’t as clear. Speaking to GameSpot, Bethesda’s Pete Hines says that Microsoft’s background with PC gaming helped it gain an edge over Sony and the PlayStation 4.
They are a company that is in both of those spaces; they’re heavily in the PC space; they’re heavily in the console space,” Hines said. “They had some pretty good ideas about how to make something like this work.” “It’s something that [Fallout 4 director Todd Howard] has been after, and hounding folks for, not just Microsoft, but everybody, for a while now,” Hines went on to say about bringing PC mods to console. “The difficulty is there is no real system in place right now today that allows for it in the way we’re talking about it, which is you’re on a PC, you’re making all this stuff on a PC; you’re not just building a new level, you’re making massive, wholesale changes to a game.” The Fallout 4 Creation Kit will not be available on November 10th. Instead, Bethesda will release it for PC in early 2016, months after the game’s arrival. And while Hines says that the company wants PS4 to get a similar experience, there is currently no timetable for PS4 Fallout 4 mod compatibility.
In fact, it sounds like support could be a ways out: “We’re hopeful that it’s out on PS4,” Hines said. “We’d like this to be something that works across [all] platforms.” We continue to see new Fallout 4 deals emerge. In addition to the Fallout 4 deal at Best Buy, Microsoft is now offering a Fallout 4 deal of its own. The company says that those who pre-order Fallout 4 now will get a $10 Xbox gift card digital code within 10 days after the game’s release. That $10 will come in handy, especially if Bethesda opts to release new DLC for Fallout 4 down the road. The company hasn’t announced anything yet but we’d be surprised if it failed to release DLC for the game. We also would be surprised if that DLC was free. The only Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition deal that we’ve seen comes from Best Buy and it’s exclusive to those in the Gamers Club Unlocked program. Those who pay the admission fee will be able to buy the Pip Boy Edition for $95 instead of $120.
While we wait for the Fallout 4 release date, it’s important to note that Bethesda has all sorts of Fallout-related gear available on its website. All of the new stuff is up for pre-order right now, including Fallout 4 tee-shirts, though the company says that a lot its new Fallout gear will start shipping out in July. If the Pip Boy Edition of Fallout 4 is any indication, some of these products will likely sell out ahead of the Fallout 4 release date in November. So if you’re at all interested, you’ll want to think about putting in an early order for these collectibles. We’ve also spotted an official Fallout 4 Vault Dweller’s Survival Guide at Best Buy. And while it’s available for pre-order, it’s going to cost you $30. Details about its contents are scarce though we should see more information emerge as we push deeper into the year. Fallout 4 Release Date Ahead of yesterday's announcements, the feeling around the web was that the Fallout 4 release date would land sometime in 2015 as opposed to 2016.
