My 87 year old mother was not able to clean it.

Since I moved up to NY and into her house, I have tried to remove the gray residue. You can't use just anything or it will destroy the finish, so always read your cleaning product to make certain you can use it. I decided to try those cleaning sponges, but didn't want to spend extra if they didn't work. So, I bought the generic brand in a 2 pack. It took a lot of elbow grease, but it worked. Get a large pack though, you will need it. I have tried it on tile, but am not sure yet whether it worked or not. There was a cleaning product that I used where soap from the soap dish accumulated on the tile below the dish. It worked very well, but until I try it on the rest of the tile for the hard water I won't mention the brand. I'm hoping it works because it was very economical compared to many cleaners. Just tried this a few minutes ago, so more will be coming. By Patt from Grand Island, NY Comment Question: FlagBy kdolphin400My fiberglass tub has some yellow spots. How can I get rid of them?

Answer Tip: Flag2My fiberglass bathtub has a nonskid bottom that is terribly difficult to get clean. I have found that the best thing is to scrub it with baking soda. It also seems to stay clean for a long time after I do this. For a little added cleaning power, after it is all scrubbed, I add and scrub a little dash of vinegar all around, scrubbing quickly as the fizzing action only lasts a few seconds. The tub is just gleaming when I get done.

By Laura from Lathrop, MO Answer By Julie Flag0Barkeeper's Friend cleanser will get out a lot of stains. It is not bleach, but a different chemical that does the work. The can says it is safe for fiberglass. You shouldn't have to scrub hard; just spread it around and let it sit a few minutes, then rinse. Reply Flag0Easy off Fume free blue cans only. Reply Question: FlagBy Sue0What is best way to clean a fiberglass tub? I purchased a house and the tub is very dirty. It is a one piece tub and shower By Gail Answer By Janet Cunningham Flag0I have the same sort of tub shower combination. I use a inexpensive oven cleaner spray and let it sit for about 15 minutes. If it is really dirty, you could leave it overnight. Buy the one without fumes and use gloves. This works great for me! You can also buy a fiberglass tub cleaner with muriatic acid, but this does not work half as well as the oven cleaner. To remove it, I just spray the tub with the shower nozzle and wipe it down with an old towel. Reply By Lynda Tracy Flag0I once found that CLR (calcium, lime, and rust remover) did a great job of getting rid of really encrusted dirt in a bathtub.

In my current bathroom, I use a home made spray of about a quarter cup of vinegar in a spray bottle of water, then a couple of drops of dish detergent. (Don't put the detergent in first or you won't be able to fill the bottle for the suds!) I spray this around the tub and enclosure after every use, and it stays sparkling! Reply Question: FlagBy Lorraine2Is there a sure fire cleaning tip for cleaning a fiberglass tub and shower surround?I have tried Magic Eraser, Kaboom, Scrubbing Bubbles, etc. By Lorraine from CT Answer By marilyn Flag0I have tried just about everything listed here and I will admit the oven cleaner really does work, but something that works astonishing well is a product called EdFred shower stall and tile cleaner. My husband found it at Orchard Supply Hardware store. I thought for sure we would have to replace our entire shower stall but this stuff made it brand new! Also their toilet bowl cleaner also works amazing too. Reply By Patti Flag1I just moved into an apartment with a retro green tub and shower surround.

I'm not sure when the last time it was actually clean but it was gross. I mean soap scum and dark grey gunk. It was the only big negative of the apt. So today I was reading the suggestions for cleaning and decided to give the oven cleaner and majic eraser a try. It worked great and I didn't even have to scrub it til my arm fell off. I don't mind the "retro" green as long as it is clean.... Reply Question: Flag0How do I clean a fiberglass shower? By Peggy from MN Answer By Deanj Flag0First, I wipe down my shower after every use with a towel. That keeps the fiber glass shower clean so I only have lightly clean the shower a couple of times a year. I use Bar Keepers Friend that I bought at Home Depot with a non scratch pad available at grocery stores. My preferred brand is made by 3M Co. My fiber glass shower looks as good as the day it was installed and by wiping down the shower after every use it is very easy to keep clean in the minimum of time. Any suggestions for attempting to clean it? By Debbie from Millsap, TXAnswers:Cleaning Fiberglass Tubs and ShowersI have had good luck with Scrubbing Bubbles, sprayed on, allowed to sit for five minutes, and scrubbed with a brush, then rinsed. Then repeated, multiple times. It took some good elbow grease, but I was pleasantly surprised. By JilsonCleaning Fiberglass Tubs and ShowersThe oven cleaner, brush, and a lot of elbow grease just did the trick! By Sustainablehome Comment Archive: Flag0I would like suggestions for cleaning fiberglass tub walls. By waitress from Brick, NJAnswers:Cleaning Fiberglass Tubs and ShowersI use the Scrubbing Bubbles on mine, after I clean, rinse, and touch up any missed spots I dry it with a towel to speed things up. Then after completely dry I use car paste wax on the walls, it helps to repel the water and soap scum sliding down the drain! I only have to do this once a year, but remember for maintenance do not use a SOS pad or scratchy scrubbers or you will have to re-apply the wax again.

Touch ups are fast and easy just apply where needed if it wears off in spots from everyday use. I also use shampoo, yes shampoo to clean the glass doors and all of the chrome handles in the tub and shower, rinse well and sparkles like new. By Beau DCleaning Fiberglass Tubs and ShowersThe advice about oven cleaner and Magic Eraser was a godsend. I had given up completely on ever getting the shower clean again. After about 15 minutes of the oven cleaner soaking the soap scum came off unbelievably well with the Magic Eraser. After everything was rinsed off I touched up the tough spots with a second spray and wipe and the shower floor was literally as white as snow. Thank you for the tip! By mtntalkerCleaning Fiberglass Tubs and ShowersI have spine problems and asthma. I've been using shampoo while in the shower to clean the walls a little at a time, and it works great. Tub surround shines so nicely. But for a heavy cleaning job (like tub ring) I am going to try the oven cleaner. I can't seem to keep up with the ring.
